The risk of escalation of tension by Azerbaijan will continue to exist until there is a peace agreement. Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated this during the debates on the report on the implementation of the 2024 state budget of Armenia at Thursday’s joint meeting of the standing committees of the parliament.
“Until we finally achieve peace and shake hands, the risk of escalation of tension will continue to exist,” the Armenian FM emphasized.
According to Mirzoyan, tension could escalate even due to trifles, for technical reasons.
“A fire can start from a spark. There may also be a respective plan,” the Armenian FM added.
Mirzoyan added that he does not know why Azerbaijan periodically fires in the direction of Armenia’s Syunik Province.
“However, Armenia has one position. That is: to create a unified mechanism for joint investigation, thanks to which it will be possible to find out whether soldiers are following orders or, being in a certain situation, are acting independently, alone, or as part of a group," added the Armenian FM.
