More than 290 people were killed in a plane crash in the Indian city of Ahmedabad on Thursday, a police spokesman told Reuters.

 Earlier, the Hindustan Times reported one survivor.

 The Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner on a flight from Gatwick to India with 242 people on board, including crew members, took off at 1:39 p.m. local time on Thursday, crashed minutes later and caught fire.
