Tehran has accused the US of Israel's attack on Iran, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said in a statement.

"The aggressive actions of the Zionist regime [i.e. Israel] against Iran could not have been carried out without coordination with and approval of the United States. Thus, the US government, as the main supporter of this regime, will be held responsible for the dangerous consequences of Israel's adventurism," the Iranian MFA statement said.

Earlier, Iranian authorities reported on early Friday morning, that Israel had struck residential areas, including houses in the capital Tehran where high-ranking Iranian military and other officials were located. These strikes had targeted the Natanz nuclear facility as well, where Iranian troops are stationed in the northwest of the country.
