Head of the Union of Armenians of Russia Ara Abrahamyan has asked the Russian Foreign Ministry to do everything possible to ensure the safety of Armenians trapped in the airplanes that made an emergency landing in Baku due to the events in Iran, the Union of Armenians in Russia reports. 

Due to restrictions imposed in the airspace of Iran, Iraq, and Israel, more than 10 planes landed in Baku on the morning of June 13. Among them were flights traveling to Dubai from Moscow, Minsk, Kaza,n and others.

Among the passengers on these flights are citizens of Armenian origin and with Armenian surnames traveling to the UAE.

“Taking into account the Armenian-phobic policy that official Baku has been propagandizing and introducing into Azerbaijani society for decades, as well as the known facts of arrest and ill-treatment of Armenians who found themselves in Baku both before and after the 44-day war, President of the Union of Armenians in Russia Ara Abrahamyan appealed to the Russian Foreign Ministry to take control of the situation in order to prevent possible illegal actions on the part of the Azerbaijani authorities against persons of Armenian nationality - citizens of the Russian Federation, who were on board the planes,” he said. 

According to relatives of these passengers who applied to the Union of Armenians of Russia, our compatriots traveling to Dubai have now stopped reaching out.  

The Union of Armenians in Russia also calls on the Armenian Foreign Ministry to do everything possible to ensure the safety of the Armenians who landed in Baku not of their own free will," the ATS statement emphasized.
