Israel is trying to persuade the US administration to join ongoing operations against Iranian nuclear facilities and military targets, The Jerusalem Post reported, citing sources.
Early Friday morning, the Israeli Air Force launched several strikes against Iran, including the Natanz nuclear facility, destroying important sites as well as IRGC leadership and nuclear scientists.
The strikes, dubbed “Operation Rising Lion,” are still ongoing and security officials estimate that they will continue for days or weeks.
The strikes were carried out in “full coordination” with the U.S., as Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced shortly after they began, but without U.S. assets or support.
"President Trump and the administration have taken all necessary steps to protect our forces and remain in close contact with our regional partners. Let me be clear: Iran should not be targeted by U.S. interests or personnel," Rubio said.
