At least four people have died and another four are missing due to flooding in central Vietnam, Tuoi Tre newspaper reported, citing emergency services.

Tropical Storm Vutip, the first to form this year in the South China Sea, caused chaos in the central part of the country, claiming lives, forcing residents to evacuate, and inflicting severe damage on homes, crops, and infrastructure. The flooding, triggered by unusually early summer rains, led to the deaths and disappearances in the provinces of Quang Binh and Quang Tri, as well as the city of Hue.

According to the Department of Dyke Management, Disaster Prevention and Control, more than 2,400 residents have been evacuated from affected areas, where nearly 2,000 homes and roads remain submerged under nearly one meter of water. Over 24,000 hectares of rice and other crops are underwater, and aquaculture farms spanning 1,800 hectares have been seriously damaged.
