A total of 1,245 more bodies of the dead, including servicemen, were returned to Ukraine on Monday, reports the Ukrainian Coordination Headquarters for Prisoners of War.
“The repatriation part of the Istanbul agreements has been completed,” added the aforementioned department.
In total, Ukraine received 6,057 bodies as part of the repatriation operations under the Istanbul agreements, the headquarters noted.
In turn, the head of the Russian delegation at the negotiations in Istanbul, Russian presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky, reported that Moscow had transferred to Kyiv a total of 6,060 bodies of fallen officers and soldiers of the Ukrainian armed forces. Also as part of the exchange, Kyiv transferred to Moscow the bodies of 78 fallen Russian soldiers, Medinsky claimed.
In addition, the Russian defense ministry announced that at this phase, they were ready to transfer to the Ukrainian side another 2,239 bodies of the deceased servicemen of the Ukrainian armed forces.
