Amid rising tensions between Iran and Israel, India has begun evacuating its citizens from high-risk zones in Iran and is actively considering Armenia as a safe transit route. This was reported by The New Indian Express.

India's Ministry of External Affairs confirmed on Monday that Indian nationals, including students, are being relocated to safer areas within Iran under the supervision of the Indian Embassy in Tehran.

The government is currently evaluating evacuation corridors, with Armenia emerging as a key option due to its proximity and stable environment.

Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar reportedly discussed logistical and diplomatic coordination with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan, according to official sources.

As of 2022, approximately 10,000 Indian citizens were residing in Iran, including over 2,000 students.
