UK parliamentarians Jim Shannon and Lord Alton of Liverpool on Friday issued a statement, speaking on behalf of the Parliamentary Inter-Party Group on Interfaith and Freedom of Belief, expressing their support for the Swiss peace initiative on Nagorno-Karabakh, reports Armenian National Committee - International.

These UK lawmakers stressed in their statement the importance of restoring the right of return of the Armenian refugees of Nagorno-Karabakh, protecting fundamental human rights, including freedom of religion, as well as preserving Armenian cultural and spiritual heritage.

The aforesaid statement adds to a growing number of international calls for sustainable and inclusive solutions to the long-running conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh.
