The Investigative Committee of Armenia issued a statement, and noted that a large number of objects and documents, as well as other undeniable facts of evidentiary value intended for preparations for terrorism and the usurpation of power were found during the searches that were conducted in the residences of the leaders and participants of the Holy Struggle movement.

“(…) including firearms and ammunition, action plans, lists of recruited persons, metal objects, fireworks, smoke bombs, military equipment, radio communication equipment, drones, drug-like plant masses, a list of persons being appointed to relevant positions in the executive branch after the forcible usurpation of power [in Armenia], documents on the detailed planning of illegal actions to be carried out by the criminal group, their sequence, chronology, etc.

Based on the investigator’s petition, the supervising prosecutor has made decisions on the initiation of public criminal prosecution against 16 persons, which were granted.

At the moment, 14 persons have been detained based on the investigator's decisions.

The Investigative Committee will issue an additional statement on the further course of the criminal proceedings.

Earlier, Armenian News-NEWS.am reported that early Wednesday morning, Armenia's law enforcement officers began searches in the homes of supporters of the Holy Struggle movement. They were conducting an operation also at the residence of Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, leader of the Holy Struggle movement.

In addition, searches are being conducted in the homes of several members of the opposition Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun Party, ARF reported.

And the Investigative Committee of Armenia had announced that "the participants and leaders of the movement called ‘Holy Struggle’ had planned to carry out terrorist acts and actions aimed at seizing power in the RA [(Republic of Armenia)]."
