I do not think that such initiatives by our neighboring state have a constructive impact on the Armenia-Azerbaijan normalization process. Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan stated this during a press briefing after Thursday’s Cabinet meeting of the Armenian government—and referring to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s recently adopted resolution, which speaks of the return of Azerbaijanis to “Western Azerbaijan.”

“Discussions are taking place with individual member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation these days. Some of them assure that this or that wording contained in that document does not correspond to their official position,” added the deputy FM of Armenia.

And reflecting on the meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan last week in Istanbul, Turkey, Kostanyan noted that the information that Erdogan had made the matter of Azerbaijanis moving to Armenia an agenda item at this meeting with Pashinyan was not true.
