PreferredDue to the aggravation of tensions in the Middle East, Russian citizens have left Iran also through the Agarak border checkpoint of Armenia. Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), stated this at Thursday’s press briefing.
“In general, since June 14 of this year, more than 1,000 people have been sent on business trips, including family members of employees of Russia’s foreign missions, delegations, creative groups, staff of economic operators, Russian tourists, and compatriots.
About 900 people left from Iran; naturally, the numbers will be updated. Routes have been developed through the Astara checkpoint of Azerbaijan, the Agarak [checkpoint] of Armenia, and the Bajgiran border checkpoint of Turkmenistan. More than 130 Russians were helped to leave Israel via Egypt and Jordan. Among them were families with seriously ill children. Eighty-five people [from] left Iraq,” Zakharova noted.
Also, the Russian MFA spokeswoman thanked the authorities of Iran, Israel, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, and Turkmenistan for their assistance provided in this matter.
