The current GR Supra will soon “retire.” Production of this coupe, updated last year, will continue until 2026.

The development of the next generation has already been officially confirmed. And this sports car may receive not only the Toyota logo, Best Car Web reports.

Insiders claim that a Lexus “twin” will appear at the same time, and it will become the successor to the discontinued RC and replace the aging LC.

If the rumors are true, a fresh “two-door” car with a low seat and a 2+2 layout will appear in the Lexus range, reports Motor.ru. It will differ from the Toyota analogue in some external features. The Lexus could borrow some ideas from the Electrified Sport Concept sports car shown in 2021. We can expect a more luxurious “stuffing” worthy of Lexus and, accordingly, a higher price.

And in terms of “technical,” the two sports cars will be almost identical. Toyota is not yet revealing the secrets of the next GR Supra, but the BMW platform shall remain a thing of the past. From now on, the Japanese will rely on their own strengths: the coupe will have a new two-liter “turbocharged” engine with a capacity of 400 horsepower (500 Nm of torque) with an electric “add-on.”

There will probably be no manual transmission in the new generation for environmental reasons. The Japanese will offer a classic eight- or nine-speed automatic transmission.

Also, there are no dates for the unveiling of the new Supra. Experts believe that it will debut either in 2026 or 2027. And the Lexus coupe will likely be released shortly after that.
