Russia will prepare for the worst amid NATO's plans to increase defense spending, not counting the fact that some of them may not be implemented. Moscow will also continue to ensure its defense capabilities, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said, RIA Novosti reports.

"It is obvious that there are a huge number of problems that could hinder the implementation of the programs recently adopted at the Hague summit and being developed in the European Union. From the point of view of the capabilities of the economies of NATO and the EU countries, they really raise great doubts," Grushko told reporters in the Russian State Duma. "But we [i.e.] must prepare for the worst. We should not hope that some of their programs will not be implemented, or will not be fully implemented. We must calmly continue to ensure our security and defense capabilities.
