On July 9, a protest rally was held in front of the building of the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of Armenia demanding to exclude Russian TV channels from the public multiplex and cable networks.

Chairman of the “In the Name of the Republic” party Arman Babajanyan spoke against the rebroadcasting of any foreign TV channel in the public multiplex, adding that the Armenian legislation allows to ensure this with regard to Russian TV channels as well.

He expressed confidence that the airwaves of those TV channels insult Armenia, calling it a part of hybrid warfare. According to his assessment, Russia's policy is aimed at liquidating Armenia's statehood. Deputy Head of the party Ruben Mehrabyan called for banning the activities of “Sputnik Armenia” as well.

Head of Vanadzor office of Helsinki Citizens' Assembly Artur Sakunts also spoke in favor of disconnecting Russian TV channels in Armenia. According to his assessment, the content disseminated by these TV channels poses a threat to Armenia's security.

The protesters held posters reading “No to Enemy Channels”, “No to Russian Enemy Language”, and chanted “No to Russian Propaganda”, “No to Russian Poison”, “Russia, Shut Up!” and other slogans.
