The approaches of Russia and Ukraine to the draft memoranda between the two countries are “diametrically opposite,” the Kremlin has said

“The approaches to the draft memoranda exchanged during the second round [of talks between Russia and Ukraine] are now diametrically opposite, it is unlikely that they can be agreed on overnight, it will require very complex diplomatic work,” said Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.

Peskov was asked whether the prospect of a meeting between the presidents of Russia and Ukraine has become more realistic after the third round of Russian-Ukrainian talks in Istanbul, and whether the Kremlin considers the deadline of the end of August proposed by Kiev for holding it to be realistic.

In response, the Russian presidential spox said: "The summit can and should put a final point on the settlement, and record all the formats and agreements that should be developed during the expert work. It is impossible to do the opposite."

"Is it possible to go through such a complex process in [just] 30 days? Well, it is obvious that this is unlikely," Peskov added.
