The Russian Armed Forces have received the first serial production Oreshnik intermediate-range ballistic missile system, President Vladimir Putin announced.
Putin announced this replenishment during a meeting with visiting Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in Russia. According to the Russian head of state, this serial production missile system has already entered production.
Putin added that this system’s place of deployment in Belarus had already been determined jointly with Belarusian specialists, and those positions were currently being prepared.
“We will most likely close this matter by the end of the year,” the Russian president noted, and added that everything was going according to plan.
According to available data, the Oreshnik missile can reach speeds of up to Mach 11, has a range of up to 5,500 km, and is equipped with a branching warhead with guided warheads.
