The UN Security Council has decided to hold an emergency meeting on Tuesday after Hamas released a propaganda video depicting exhausted Israeli hostages, Israel's UN envoy Danny Danon said.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has petitioned to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) with a request to help provide food and emergency medical assistance to Israeli hostages, his office said, DW reports.

Hamas has expressed its readiness to grant the ICRC humanitarian access to the hostages, but only on the condition that permanent humanitarian corridors are opened to deliver food and medicine to all residents of the coastal zone. Hamas's militant wing, Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, claim that they are not deliberately starving the hostages and that the latter are receiving the same food as the population of the Gaza Strip.

A video released by Hamas and its ally, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, shows Israeli hostages Evyatar David and Rom Braslavski. They complain of hunger and cry. Also, David was forced to dig a hole in a tunnel under the Gaza Strip and said it was his grave. Both have been held captive since October 7, 2023.
