The southern part of the Kamchatka Peninsula of Russia shifted by almost 2 meters toward the southeast after the strong earthquake on July 30, reported the Kamchatka branch of the Federal Research Center of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

A preliminary calculation was made based on the data obtained as a result of geodynamic studies. It turned out that Kamchatka shifted toward the southeast. As a result of the quake on July 30, the largest ground displacements were recorded in the southern part of the peninsula. In this area, they reached almost 2 meters, which can be compared with the horizontal displacements that occurred after the earthquake in the Tohoku region of Japan in 2011.
