End of an era: After 24 years, Volkswagen will cease the production of its Touareg, reports Motor.ru.

After almost a quarter of a century of manufacture, Volkswagen is preparing to stop production of its large crossover Touareg.

The car, first introduced in 2002, will not have a direct successor.

Now, the role of the leading SUV of Volkswagen will go to the Tayron.

Such a decision is due to the general strategy of Volkswagen, which is now betting on more massive cars.

The history of the Touareg had begun with the ambitious task of bringing Volkswagen into the premium segment.

Interestingly, this crossover was created in close cooperation with Porsche, as it shares a platform with the Cayenne.

During production, the Touareg has changed three generations, and the last generation introduced to the market was updated in 2023.
