An earthquake, with a magnitude of 5.5, has hit northern Japan.

According to the country's meteorological agency, the epicenter of this tremor was in the Pacific Ocean, east of Hokkaido prefecture, and its hypocenter was at a depth of 20 kilometers.

There were no reports of casualties or damage.

Also, no tsunami warning was issued.
