The signing of a joint declaration between the US, Azerbaijan, and Armenia in Washington DC has confirmed Baku’s commitment to the peace agenda, said Elchin Amirbekov, the special envoy of the Azerbaijani president.

According to him, the clause in the document on the initialing of a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia implies the need for further steps towards its signing and ratification.

Baku expects amendments to Armenia’s constitution to eliminate the remaining territorial claims against Azerbaijan, Amirbekov said in an interview with NE Global.

Also, he stressed the importance of the aforesaid declaration’s provision on the opening of transport and communication routes between the two countries, including ensuring unhindered communication between Azerbaijan and its exclave, Nakhichevan.
