Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has surrendered—at the behest of the West—everything that many generations of Armenians have fought for, Alexey Zhuravlev, the First Deputy Chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on Defense, told RIA Novosti.

On August 8, in Washington DC, Armenia and the US agreed to implement the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” plan, which envisages the creation of the “Zangezur Corridor”—a 40-kilometer section connecting Azerbaijan with its Nakhichevan exclave through southern Armenia.

“Pashinyan has voluntarily surrendered everything that many generations of Armenians have fought for for a long time, only because his Western masters wanted it that way,” Zhuravlev said.

The Russian lawmaker noted that Armenia has not received anything in exchange from either Azerbaijan or the US, and the “Zangezur Corridor” has been leased to the Americans for 99 years.

“The example of Panama shows how this usually ends: by leasing the canal, the US is effectively overseeing the country for several decades. The same now threatens Armenia, where its own prime minister is engaged in ‘wholesale and retail trade,’” Alexey Zhuravlev concluded.
