Russia supports Armenia in the "Trump Route" matter if it is good for it, said Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk.

"We [i.e. Russia] are considering this matter. Armenia is our strategic ally. If Armenia believes that something is good for them, then we will, of course, support them," Overchuk told reporters, answering a question about the prospects for the implementation of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP).

The deputy premier emphasized that Russia supports the peace processes in the South Caucasus that fully meet its interests.

"Of course, within the framework of the agreements that can obviously be reached, some nuances arise that we need to clarify together with the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides," Overchuk added.

Armenia and the US had agreed, in Washington DC on August 8, to implement the TRIPP plan, which envisages the creation of the “Zangezur Corridor,” a 40-kilometer section connecting Azerbaijan with its Nakhichevan exclave through southern Armenia.
