The Iranian minister of industry, mine, and trade, referring to the zeroing of 87% of customs duties on goods between Iran and Armenia since April, spoke about plans to increase trade between the two countries, and noted that they will try to increase the level of trade.

Seyed Mohammad Atabak, after a meeting with the minister of economy of Armenia, said: "According to the arrangements, Iran was accepted as an observer in the Eurasian Economic Union, and all this time efforts have been made to increase the level of trade with its neighbors. The most important of them is Armenia, which is considered a gateway to the Eurasian Union. Since April of this year, trade agreements have been signed within the framework of the arrangements, and we have zeroed 87% of customs duties on goods between the two countries.”

Reflecting on the increase of trade between Iran and Armenia, he added: “Iran and Armenia have started trade through this union’s agreement, and it has had increasing dynamics. We are analyzing various aspects of this agreement regarding the level of trade with Eurasian countries and will try to increase the level of trade.”

Atabak, regarding his arrangement with the Armenian minister of economy, emphasized: “It has been decided to establish a work group consisting of the deputy ministers of industry and economy of the two countries so that they can make decisions on the remaining matters. This will enable to regulate mutual calculations between the customs offices of the two countries, and we are trying to bring the standards of the two countries to a unified level so that traders can easily exchange goods.”
