PreferredA group of displaced Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) residents are holding a protest in front of the main building of the government of Armenia.
The relatives of Armenian missing persons and captives in Azerbaijan are among these demonstrators.
Artsakh Ombudsman Gegham Stepanyan told reporters that these protests are being attended also by those Artsakh residents who have buried their relatives in Artsakh, but want to carry out exhumation and bring the remains of their deceased relatives to Armenia.
“In a certain sense, a channel was formed for work with [Armenia’s] state structures. There is the committee on captives and missing persons, which was headed by former NSS [i.e. National Security Service] chief Armen Abazyan. Relatives had received assurances that work was being done in that direction. But today the fact is that due to Armen Abazyan's resignation, none of us are informed of who in the state system [of Armenia] is dealing with these matters," Stepanyan added.
