At least 20 people, including five international media journalists, were killed in an Israeli army strike in southern Gaza Strip, according to the BBC Russian Service.

Among the dead are Reuters cameraman Husam al-Masri and freelance Associated Press journalist Mariam Dagga. The AP expressed shock and grief over the death of the 33-year-old journalist.

Also among the dead were Al Jazeera employee Mohammed Salame, photographer Muath Abu Taha, and Ahmad Abu Aziz. Information about who Taha and Aziz worked for has not yet been clarified; the American television channel NBC reported that Taha was not its employee.

According to the Hamas-controlled Gaza Civil Defense Service, at least 20 people were killed in the strike, including one member of the service, AFP reports.
