The continuation of the 44-day war in 2020 threatened Azerbaijan with very dangerous scenarios, Azerbaijani foreign minister Jeyhun Bayramov has said.
He explained that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s decision of to stop the Nagorno-Karabakh war saved Azerbaijan from very dangerous scenarios.
Bayramov detailed that external interference in the region was prevented, and it was possible to avoid international pressure with accusations of ethnic cleansing, Azerbaijani media report.
The Azerbaijani FM added that during the 44-day war, "a number of leading players" had threatened to impose sanctions on Azerbaijan.
Bayramov admitted that Azerbaijan was preparing for the most aggressive war of the "decade."
