US President Donald Trump has demanded that pharmaceutical companies disclose data on the effectiveness of coronavirus drugs, noting that the public has a right to know the truth.
“Pharmaceutical companies must justify the success of their COVID drugs. Many consider them a miracle that has saved millions of lives, others do not. The CDC is literally being torn apart over this issue. I want answers, and I want them now,” Trump wrote on his social network Truth Social.
He emphasized that he had seen internal materials from Pfizer and other manufacturers with “outstanding results,” but that this data had not yet been made available to the general public.
“They show me great numbers, but they don't share them with others. Why? Let them present everything to the CDC and the people right now and clear up this chaos,” the president added.
Trump linked the situation to the split over the activities of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the position of Health Secretary Robert Kennedy Jr. According to him, the lack of transparency only intensifies the controversy.
“I hope that ‘Operation Warp Speed’ was as successful as they say it was. But if it wasn't, we need to know the truth and understand why,” he concluded.
