More than 16,000 internally displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh have granted citizenship of the Republic of Armenia so far. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Armenia Armen Ghazaryan at a meeting of the Standing Committee on Defense and Security of the National Assembly on Friday.
According to Ghazaryan, most of these 16,000 persons are minors who automatically became citizens of Armenia. That is, after their parents, who have been issued new Armenia passports.
“These are the data as of September 2,” the deputy minister added.
