On August 8, Armenia and Azerbaijan only initialed the peace treaty, said Elchin Amirbekov, the special envoy of the Azerbaijani president, in an interview with the French I24 News, reports RFE/RL.

“The Armenian side has yet to take concrete steps for the final signing of the document and its further implementation,” Amirbekov added.

“There are still provisions in Armenia’s constitution that contain unacceptable territorial claims and contradict the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan,” noted the special envoy of the Azerbaijani president, and added that “in order to establish a lasting peace, the basic law of Armenia must be brought into line with the text and spirit of the peace agreement already initialed by the two countries.”
