“Trump Route” implies the presence of a customs service, and customs service will operate there. Chairman of the State Revenue Committee (SRC), Eduard Hakobyan, announced this in the National Assembly of Armenia Friday—and addressing the question of whether the customs system will operate on this road junction—via Armenia—called the “Trump Route,” and if yes, how it will operate.

“As for the details, they are still subject of discussion. But I also stated during my interview that, regardless of this, our [i.e. Armenia’s] general policy is total customs. That is, we are making reforms to facilitate trade at all our borders, some of which I spoke about yesterday,” Hakobyan said.

When asked what that road junction or road is, to what extent the rules of the Eurasian Economic Union—which Armenia is a member in—will apply on that road, and whether or not they will apply, the SRC chairman responded: "The clarity regarding the ‘Trump Route’ is that those provisions clearly substantiate that there will be a customs service [there]. As for the details of the customs service, they are currently being actively discussed."
