Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, Minister of High-Tech Industry of Armenia, on Friday received a delegation led by Brendan Hanrahan, Senior Bureau Official for the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs of the US Department of State.
Hayrapetyan, welcoming the members of this delegation, lauded the importance of their visit, and emphasized that the continued development and strengthening of Armenia-US bilateral relations are a strategic priority for the Armenian government, the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of Armenia informs Armenian News-NEWS.am. The minister noted that this visit is considered an important step in establishing a new quality of relations between Armenia and the US.
During the meeting, Mkhitar Hayrapetyan expressed confidence that the delegation's visit to Armenia will greatly contribute to the effective implementation of the events envisaged by the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed between the governments of Armenia and the US on August 8 in Washington regarding innovative partnership in artificial intelligence (AI) and semiconductors. According to the minister, this cooperation creates broad opportunities for the development of Armenia's economy.
In turn, Brendan Hanrahan noted that the content of the aforesaid MOU indicates that there is a great potential for bilateral cooperation in the tech sector.
During the meeting, a wide range of issues were discussed, in particular, the possibilities of developing harmonious policies toward AI, investments in Armenia’s semiconductor ecosystem, and the development of chip design, identification, and testing capabilities.
