YEREVAN. – The French Senate’s decision with respect to the bill that criminalizes the denial of genocides, including the Armenian Genocide, came to prove yet again the French people’s and the state’s readiness to defend universal values; a decision, which is the most important step in the prevention of genocides in the world, Armenian ruling coalition’s Rule of Law Party’s (RLP) statement reads.
“By recognizing the Armenian Genocide and criminalizing the denial of genocide, the upper chamber of the French parliament announced to the entire world that it remains true to universal values, norms of ethics, and justice. The fact that the decision passed in France’s two chambers, where different political forces are the majority, bespeaks the expression of the French people’s will. We are convinced that this most important step will spur the Armenian Genocide’s recognition and condemnation in Europe and in different countries alike,” RLP’s statement specifically reads.
