The European Commission is studying the possibility of imposing sanctions against the Georgian authorities and is considering suspending the visa-free regime. This was announced Tuesday by Anitta Hipper, Lead Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Commission of the European Union, at a press briefing.

“During our discussions, other options were also discussed, from sanctions to suspension of visa-free regime and other events. At the same time, as already mentioned, we have completely reduced the level of our political contacts, and we have stopped financial assistance to the Georgian authorities and raised our support to civil society,” Hipper said.
