On Tuesday, the Israel Defense Forces struck the Houthi-controlled port of Hodeidah in Yemen, according to a statement by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, The Jerusalem Post reports. 

“The strike was carried out in response to repeated attacks by the Houthi terrorist regime against the State of Israel, including the launch of unmanned aerial vehicles and surface-to-surface missiles toward the State of Israel,” the statement released by the IDF said.

Al Masirah TV reported that 12 Israeli strikes were carried out on the port's docks. Two sources at the port told Reuters that the strikes targeted three docks that had been rebuilt after previous Israeli strikes. 

Residents of the area told Reuters that the attack lasted about 10 minutes. The strikes came after IDF spokesman Colonel Avichay Adraee warned civilians to evacuate the area. 

Adraee called on ships anchored in the port to evacuate and warned that anyone who remained was “putting their lives at risk.”
