China and the United States are in the “final stages” of negotiations on US President Donald Trump's state visit to Beijing, and a key part of these negotiations is the bulk purchase of American goods, according to the South China Morning Post.
According to the publication's sources, Trump may visit the country either before or after the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, which will be held in South Korea from October 31 to November 1.
This event took place after the fourth round of trade negotiations between the two sides in Spain and ahead of a telephone conversation between Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday.
Trump described the Madrid talks as successful, as both sides reached a framework agreement on the popular Chinese social media app TikTok.
They also discussed critical minerals and fentanyl, among other issues, the statement said.
