Railway connections between Armenia and Iran will be restored as a result of the unblocking of regional communications, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told a press briefing Thursday.

In his opinion, this will considerably increase the opportunities for economic cooperation and increase the transit potential of not only Armenia and Iran, but also Azerbaijan.

Pashinyan added that in the case of this railway, it is impossible for the transit importance of Armenia and Iran to increase, but not that of Azerbaijan’s Nakhichevan exclave.

Also, he assured that the North-South motorway is being built at a good pace.

“We [i.e. Iran] have agreed with Iran to deepen economic cooperation and partnership,” the Armenian premier concluded.
