The ongoing attacks on Ukraine show that Russian President Vladimir Putin is not interested in peace, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said at a joint press conference with US President Donald Trump. The talks took place during Trump's state visit to the UK, which ended on Thursday evening.

“In recent days, Putin has shown his true face, mounting the biggest attack since the invasion began with yet more bloodshed, yet more innocents killed, an unprecedented violations of NATO airspace,” Starmer said. “These are not the actions of someone who wants peace.”

Also, British PM said he and Trump had discussed how to "increase the pressure on Putin to get him to agree a peace deal that will last."

Trump, for his part, said that he believes that of the wars he is trying to stop, the resolution of the armed conflict in Ukraine will be the “easiest” thanks to his relationship with Vladimir Putin.

“But he has really let me down,” Trump added.

Also, the US president expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that some countries continue to buy Russian oil, effectively financing Russia’s war with Ukraine.

“If the price of oil comes down, Putin's going to drop out [of the war]. He's going to have no choice,” Trump emphasized.

The US president, however, did not directly answer reporters’ questions about what exactly he is going to do to put pressure on Putin.

“The Russia situation, I hope we're going to have some good news for you coming up,” Trump said.
