The embassy of Armenia in Uruguay held an official reception on the occasion of Sunday’s 34th anniversary of Armenia’s independence, the embassy informed.

In her remarks at the event, the ambassador of Armenia to Uruguay, Mariam Gevorgyan, touched upon the meaning of Armenia’s Independence Day, and emphasized that 34 years ago the Armenian people realized their dream of living freely and sovereignly. Stressing the excellent level of Armenian-Uruguayan relations and the unbreakable friendship between the two peoples, the Armenian ambassador highlighted the achievements of bilateral cooperation in various domains and high-level mutual visits in recent years.

Also, Ambassador Gevorgyan reflected on the agreements reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan on August 8 in Washington, and reaffirmed Armenia’s commitment to the process of establishing stable and lasting peace in its region.

In conclusion, Ambassador Gevorgyan expressed her appreciation and gratitude to the Armenian community of Uruguay for their great contribution to the development of relations between the two countries.

In addition, at the initiative of the embassy of Armenia in Uruguay and with the permission of the city hall of Montevideo, the Uruguayan capital’s Constitution Square was illuminated in the tricolors of the Armenian national flag during the event.
