Portugal has officially recognized a Palestinian state, Portuguese Foreign Minister Paulo Rangel announced.

Earlier, the United Kingdom (UK), Canada, and Australia also recognized a Palestinian state.

Portuguese FM Rangel officially recognized a Palestinian state on Sunday, while in New York.

The UK, Canada, and Australia also had ratified this decision on the same day.

They did so ahead of the conference scheduled for Monday.

As of that date, 147 countries have recognized a Palestinian state, and this is 75 percent of all UN members.
