Armenia may not become a member of the European Union (EU), Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated while speaking Tuesday during a panel discussion at the Armenian Forum for Democracy being held in Yerevan.

“Our objective is to ensure EU standards [in Armenia]. Moreover, in all domains,” Pashinyan added.

According to him, there is a lot of talk in Armenian society about the expediency or unreality of Armenia’s EU membership.

“The government and the political majority [of Armenia] say that our objective is to achieve EU standards in all domains. This is the most important [thing], as many see certain geopolitical moments in it,” noted the head of the Armenian government.

Also, the PM stressed that the next step in democratic reforms in Armenia will be the establishment of the country’s unquestionable and unwavering commitment to EU values.
