A knife was found near the body of former Nagorno-Karabakh official Boris Avagyan, who had “committed suicide” at the Armenian consulate in Saint Petersburg, Russia, RIA Novosti was told by Russian emergency services.

Investigators from the Russian Investigative Committee are working at the aforementioned consulate where Avagyan died, Russian law enforcement officials said.

Initial reports, citing a source, indicated that Avagyan committed suicide. 

On Tuesday, he had fled from the Kronstadt District Court of Saint Petersburg, where a preliminary detention order had been issued against him, informed Daria Lebedeva, head of the joint press service of the Saint Petersburg courts.
