Armenia’s Parakar enlarged community’s slain mayor Volodya Grigoryan’s wake is underway at the community’s house of culture and youth.
Also, there is a black ribbon on the central street of Parakar.
Grigoryan’s funeral will take place Friday, and will start at noon, from the same location.
Earlier, Armenian News-NEWS.am reported that on Tuesday at 11:52pm, the police received a report that shots had been fired in Merdzavan village of Armavir Province, there are two dead and one injured. One of the dead is the mayor of the Parakar enlarged community, Volodya Grigoryan.
The second person killed is a police officer by the name of Karen Abrahamyan, an employee of the Ararat Province criminal police, who was not on duty at the time of the murder; he was Grigoryan’s friend.
The incident had occurred in front of Grigoryan’s house, and Artsrun Galstyan was wounded in the shooting.
The video surveillance cameras at the scene of the murder have been taken possession of.
A criminal case has been opened at the Vagharshapat city investigative department of the Armavir provincial investigative department.
On March 30, Volodya Grigoryan, as an opposition candidate in the local elections in Parakar, had recorded a landslide victory against the ruling party.
