Zhoghovurd newspaper of Armenia writes as follows, in particular: According to the Zhoghovurd daily’s information, a decision has been made within the authorities’ circle to wage a tough fight against political opponents.

The daily's authorities’ sources convey that a special PR team has already been formed within the [ruling] Civil Contract [(CC)] [Party and its parliamentary faction], the main mission of which will be coordinated work with the media, with the aim of discrediting all opponents.

According to the sources, the [respective] strategy is built around the idea of "destroying” the opposition “in the nest." It is especially noted that all political forces that will soon announce their running in the 2026 parliamentary elections will immediately become the CC's target.

According to various reports, the authorities’ team is preparing to invade the personal and professional field of the opponents, attempting to damage their reputation and prevent the intensification of the political fight. Zhoghovurd daily’s sources close to the CC also claim that several teams have already been formed in the opposition field, which intend to come, with public statements, to the electoral field in the coming months.

Within the framework of the authorities’ strategy, these teams are considered the main threat, and the authorities are ready to take any step to politically neutralize them.

At the same time, a considerable part of the political forces operating on the anti-authorities’ front are aware of the expected developments and are preparing for possible pressures, including political repressions, legal persecution, and even imprisonment.

It is not ruled that in the near future, the escalation in political circles will enter a more heated phase, along with the processes underway in parallel, including the initiative to overthrow the Catholicos of All Armenians.
