A US government shutdown could happen next week, President Donald Trump said, and slammed the congressional Democrats for not supporting a two-month extension of funding over concerns about cutting healthcare subsidies, CNN reports.
Democrats have said they will not vote to fund the government unless costly changes are made to the healthcare system, such as extending expanded subsidies under the Affordable Care Act, which expire at the end of the year.
Instead, Democrats want to open the border so criminals can come in, Trump said, and claimed that Democrats are actually seeking to provide free medical care to illegal immigrants.
