Narek Ohanyan has been detained in connection with the murder of opposition mayor Volodya Grigoryan, 41, of Parakar enlarged community of Armenia,.
A search was being conducted on the territory of an incomplete house belonging to Ohanyan.
As can be seen from the Facebook livestream of reporter Lia Sargyan, Deputy Chief of the Police, Vardan Vardanyan, was at the scene of the search.
The head of the Armavir provincial department of the Criminal Police, Artur Bdoyan, who was dismissed today, was also at the scene.
Also, after the high-profile murders in Parakar, the head of the Armavir provincial investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, Hrachya Ghazaryan, was dismissed from his post at his own request.
Narek Ohanyan is the brother of Grigor Ohanyan, who was killed in the shooting in Merdzavan village on February 5. Grigor Ohanyan was the cousin of ruling Civil Contract Party member Mher Akhtoyan, and was killed on his birthday.

Earlier, Armenian News-NEWS.am reported that on Tuesday at 11:52pm, the police received a report that shots had been fired in Merdzavan village of Armavir Province, there are two dead and one injured. One of the dead is the mayor of the Parakar enlarged community, Volodya Grigoryan.
The second person killed is a police officer by the name of Karen Abrahamyan, an employee of the Ararat Province criminal police, who was not on duty at the time of the murder; he was Grigoryan’s friend.
The incident had occurred in front of Grigoryan’s house, and Artsrun Galstyan was wounded in the shooting.
The video surveillance cameras at the scene of the murder have been taken possession of.
A criminal case has been opened at the Vagharshapat city investigative department of the Armavir provincial investigative department.
On March 30, Volodya Grigoryan, as an opposition candidate in the local elections in Parakar, had recorded a landslide victory against the ruling party.
