Pharmaceutical products being imported from the European Union (EU) to the United States (US) will be exempt from new US tariffs, US government sources say, dpa news agency reports.

According to a dpa source, the White House is committed to the 15-percent tariff cap agreed for imports from the EU, which also applies to pharmaceutical products.

Earlier, the European Commission of the EU had assumed that Germany and other EU countries would be exempt from the new US tariffs.
