Armenia is ready to actively collaborate with other member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) to further develop trade and economic cooperation. Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan stated this while speaking—via video link—at the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council of the EAEU.

According to Grigoryan, Armenia considers the integrated information system as the technological basis for the effective functioning of the EAEU, informed the Armenian government. Within the framework of this system, a number of processes are already being implemented—either fully operational, or at the phase of implementation.

“Digital trade is a strategic priority for the Armenian side. We [i.e. Armenia] support the initiative to conclude an agreement on electronic commerce within the EAEU as an important step towards creating a single digital market,” Grigoryan noted, in particular.

He emphasized that special attention should be paid to cybersecurity, including consumer data protection and rapid incident response mechanisms.

Transport and logistics remain important sectors for Armenia. According to the deputy PM, the diversification of transport infrastructure will provide an additional impetus to exports to third countries and the growth of trade within the EAEU.

He stressed that all projects of Armenia are aimed at creating reliable and interconnected routes that ensure sustainable development in the region and strengthening economic ties based on sovereignty, jurisdiction, equality, and mutual respect.

Also, Grigoryan noted the importance of a financial support mechanism that provides real incentives for companies producing high-tech products. Moreover, he noted that the further development of single markets for electricity and energy resources should become the basis for ensuring a level playing field for the economic activities for all EAEU member states.

At the same time, meeting the domestic needs of the EAEU countries in oil products should be a priority, added the deputy premier of Armenia.
