Peace creates opportunities and prospects, and the recent steps taken by Armenia in this regard are not only political, but also economic achievements. The United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator in Armenia, Francoise Jacob, stated this at the “Countries Under One Roof” international forum Tuesday in Yerevan.

In her words, Armenia is opening up like a flower and emerging from a closed state, which is what the Crossroads of Peace project of the country is about. She added that this creates the foundations for sustainable growth and inclusive development.

Armenia is demonstrating diplomatic leadership in environmental protection by hosting the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17) next year, and this means that the country is ready to cooperate in building the future, Jacob said.

The country is developing a completely new, progressive business brand. The future must be green, and the climate crisis requires sustained action from everyone, including the private sector, she noted

Armenia has made commitments within the framework of sustainable development until 2030, which is in line with global objectives, Jacob noted.

Also, she pointed to the importance of ensuring the inflow of capital into various sectors, the activities of which promote environmental protection.

Armenia will receive world attention before COP17, and this will enhance the country’s global image as a responsible player, Jacob concluded.
